RESEARCH PROFILE
In my previous research, I focused primarily on the role of folklorism and regional history in the formation of local identities, as well as on the musealization of Czech Germans in both the Czech Republic and Germany. Public history, museum exhibitions, and Czech-German or Czech-Bavarian cultures of remembrance continue to be important areas of my academic interest.
In my doctoral project, I explore tourism in the Bohemian and the Bavarian Forest before the Iron Curtain. I focus in particular on the formation and perception of different types of borders and on the environmental and cultural aspects of tourism. I also examine the potential of posthumanist approaches to historical research and seek to connect historical and anthropological perspectives on forests and landscapes. I further develop these topics within the Land Gone Wild project at the IE CAS.
I am a member of the international research network European Conservation Humanities Network.
