RESEARCH PROFILE
My research currently follows two main axes. I have been affiliated with the Faculty of Arts at Charles University in Prague since 2017, where I teach courses on literary theory and Lusophone literature. My scholarship specializes in the analysis of literary prose by Lusophone authors. I analyse such works for traces illustrating the search for and discovery of national identity, which is often associated with main characters’ processes of self-discovery and identity formation. I am the founder of the project 100 František / Jorge Listopad, which in 2021 published a Czech-Portuguese collective monograph under the same name, and subsequently, in 2023, released a book entitled Jorge Listopad e Rosa definitive de František Listopad [Jorge Listopad and František Listopad’s Rosa Definitiva], intended for Portuguese-speaking readers.
Within the Romani Atlantic project, I will be focused on the analysis of two novels: Myra (2008) was written by Portuguese author, Maria Velho da Costa, and A Rainha Ginga (Queen Jinga, 2014) was written by Angolan author, José Eduardo Agualusa. Both novels show that memory is not just a record of what happened, but also a vital process shaping our present and future.
