RESEARCH PROFILE

My research combines ethnographic, oral history, qualitative research methods and social theory to explore the interplay of migration, international students, and diaspora, focusing on transnational networks, identity, belonging, and the socio-political influence of African communities abroad. Previously, my research was focused more on a geographical focus; Nigeria and South Africa, spanning from governance and democratic institutions in Africa, particularly institutional accountability, political participation, and elite behaviours.

Before joining the Department of Mobility and Migration, I held research fellowships at the Jagiellonian University under the Coimbra Group Scholarship Programme and a funded research visit to the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany.

In addition to my academic work, I am also involved with the third sector (a Humanitarian NGO based in Prague). Currently, I am a researcher as part of the team on the project 'African migrants and religious life in the Czech Republic, focused on how faith and belief systems shape diasporic experiences and integration processes'.
