The n:ear festival of improvised and experimental music in Banská Štiavnica screened Hopa lide – an ethnographic film about Romani musicians from Slovakia, directed by our employee Petr Nuska. On that occasion, he was interviewed by the reporter of Slovak Radio. In the festival report, you will learn about how the film was made, what it is like when an ethnomusicologist makes a film, and what specifics (and pitfalls) of Romani representation exist in contemporary Czech and Slovak documentary film.
