Between 21 and 25 July 2025, University College London hosted the XI World Congress of the International Council for Central and East European Studies (ICCEES), held under the theme of “Disruption.”

Three researchers from the Institute took part in the conference, presenting their latest work. Johana Kłusek presented her research in a paper entitled “The Rock Among Shifting Sands: British Exile and the Czech National Identity.” Rose Smith contributed with a paper titled “Disrupting Memory: The Post-Communist Exotic and Its Impact on National and Transnational Narratives in Central and Eastern European Museums.” Johana Wyss delivered a paper titled “Mnemonic Exclusion and the Velvet Revolution: Symbolic and Socioeconomic Marginalization in the Czech Republic 35 Years On.”
