EDUROAM
Our institution is connected to eduroam
The eduroam Federation is an international project dedicated to promoting mobility and roaming within national research and education networks (NRENs). In the Czech Republic, this project is coordinated by the CESNET association. Our institution joined the project in 2026.
One account. Anywhere.
Registered users can access this wireless network (wherever it is available) using a single user account. The account is managed by the user’s home (affiliated) organization.
Roaming is simple: a subscriber’s properly configured device connects automatically as soon as the eduroam network is available. This works similarly to connecting to foreign mobile operators’ networks while roaming. Hence the acronym: education roaming.
The service is free for all users.
Activating an eduroam Account
In eduroam, a username consists of two parts—the username itself and the realm. The username is the one you’re used to from other systems at your institution, e.g., surname@eu.cas.cz. Before you can use roaming, you’ll also need to request an eduroam account and password.
Configuring your devices to connect to eduroam
To connect securely to eduroam, simply entering your username and password is not enough. You must also enable certificate verification; the easiest way to do this is using eduroam CAT—see the documentation at eduroam.cz.
For manual setup, you will need the following information:
- network name (SSID): eduroam
- Connection protocol: 802.1x
- Security and encryption: WPA2/AES
- Authentication: PEAP (alternatively TTLS)
- Internal authentication protocol: MS-CHAPv2
- RADIUS server name: radius.eu.cas.cz
- Certification Authority: HARICA TLS RSA Root CA 2021
- The IP address is assigned automatically via DHCP
Covered Areas
eduroam is broadcast in all offices at Puškinovo náměstí 9
Traffic filtering
Traffic from the institution’s employees is filtered in accordance with Czech law.
Support
Users at our institution can contact us via email at cahao@eu.cas.cz or by phone at +420 222 828 505.
Visitors with an eduroam account should seek support primarily from their home institution—that is, the institution that provided them with the account.
