RESEARCH PROFILE
My previous research explored how animal care in a public dog shelter translated into urban care in a Romanian post-socialist city, shedding light on how the "dirty work" of urban maintenance is unequally distributed along ethnic and class lines. Working alongside Roma caregivers at the shelter shaped my broader engagement with the Roma community, particularly regarding their collaborative and transnational labor migration networks.
Building on this, as a doctoral researcher for the ERC-funded RAW project, I investigate how Ukrainian Roma navigate labor migration across borders within the ongoing war, examining the forms of kinship that emerge and take shape through these labor practices.
