Department of Mobility and Migration, deadline for applications no later than 15 May 2020.

The Institute of Ethnology of the Czech Academy of Sciences (IE CAS) invites applications for a research position at the Department of Mobility and Migration (DMM). The successful candidate is expected to assume the position after 1 July 2020 and no later than 30 October 2020.

We are looking for a candidate who pursues research on issues related to political economy of migration, borders, exclusion/inclusion, marginalisation, identity, gender, and/or generation. Applications are welcome from established researchers who could bring their original research agendas and help to develop the newly established and growing department. Candidates will need to prove their abilities to engage in internationally outstanding research.

The successful candidate is expected to undertake original research, publish in international journals and publishing houses, organise workshops and conferences, seek external funding, gradually build her/his own research group with the help of the funding, pursue international collaborations, participate in institute’s scholarly and outreach activities, and to play an effective role in the life of the DMM and IE CAS as a whole.

The successful candidate will receive a three-year contract that might be renewed to permanent upon positive evaluation of the researcher in compliance with the Institute’s directives. Salary will depend on actual profile of the successful candidate and will follow the general rules of the Czech Academy of Sciences and specific directive of the IE CAS. Please, note that the academic salaries in the Czech Republic are rather modest.

• brief statement (one page) outlining research and publication plans for the next three years

• example of published work (single authored by the applicant or the applicant as the first author)

Výběrové řízení na pozici výzkumného pracovníka

Etnologický ústav AV ČR, v. v. i. vyhlašuje výběrové řízení na pozici výzkumného pracovníka/pracovnice na Oddělení mobility a migrace. Očekává se, že úspěšný kandidát nastoupí do pracovního poměru v období od 1. července do 30. října 2020.

Hledáme výzkumníka/výzkumnici v oblasti politické ekonomie migrace, hranic, vyloučení / integrace, marginalizace, identity, gender-u a /nebo generace. Uvítáme přihlášky od etablovaných odborníků, kteří by mohli svými výzkumnými aktivitami přispět k budování nově založeného a rozvíjejícího se oddělení. Uchazeči budou muset prokázat své schopnosti zapojit se do výzkumu na mezinárodní úrovni.

Od úspěšného uchazeče se očekává, že bude provádět originální výzkum, publikovat v mezinárodních časopisech a vydavatelstvích, organizovat workshopy a konference, ucházet se o externí financování, postupně si s pomocí získaných financí budovat svou výzkumnou skupinu, zapojovat se do mezinárodní spolupráce, účastnit se vědecké a popularizační činnosti a dalších činností v rámci ústavu.

Úspěšný uchazeč získá tříletou pracovní smlouvu, která může být po pozitivním vyhodnocení pracovní činnosti v souladu s platnými směrnicemi změněna na smlouvu na dobu neurčitou. Výše platu se bude řídit obecnými kariérními pravidly AV ČR a příslušnou vnitřní směrnicí Etnologického ústavu.
